A great scientist
Personally I admire Marie Curie, she was born on
November 7, 1867 in Warsaw was the daughter of Władysław Skłodowski, professor
of physics and mathematics at Lyceum, and Bronisława Boguska, who was a
teacher, pianist and singer.
Because in Poland women were forbidden to study at the
University, she moved to France where she studied at the Sorbonne University,
she was named the best of her class in physics.
In 1895 Marie married Pierre Curie and together they
worked in a laboratory. They discovered
was that radiation was not the product of chemical reactions, in 1898 after
several years of Work discovered two new chemical elements, polonium and radium, by both discoveries Marie won the novel prize of physics and chemistry.
In 1906 Pierre Curie dies, but even so Marie went
ahead and was the first woman to give a lecture at the University of Soborna. Marie Curie died in 1934 due to aplastic anemia.
What I admire about Marie is that despite the
difficulties that a woman had at the time to develop an academic life, she
managed to highlight and demonstrate that a woman is as capable as a man to
achieve anything.
Interesting, i heard that she died for leukemia because she carry radioactive substances in her pockets.
